Description

Look, Listen and Live

The Look, Listen and Live series of 8 audio-visuals is excellent for systematic evangelism and Christian teaching and is available in hundreds of languages. There are 24 pictures in each book. You can purchase the entire series of 8 x A5 size booklets, being Look, Listen and Live 1-8 here, or buy them individually.

This series gives studies of Old Testament characters, the life of Jesus, and the young Church. It is particularly suited to bring the Gospel message and basic Christian teaching to oral communicators. The pictures are clear and brightly coloured to attract those who may not be used to visual teaching presentations.

The booklets are A5 size (210mm x 140mm or 8.25″ x 6″) stapled. They are suitable for small group and individual use. The booklet is designed for use with the ‘Look, Listen and Live’ audio recordings. A3 size flipcharts are available for use with larger groups.

Titles in the series are:

  1. Beginning with GOD (Adam, Noah, Job, Abraham)
  2. Mighty Men of GOD (Jacob, Joseph, Moses)
  3. Victory through GOD (Joshua, Deborah, Gideon, Samson)
  4. Servants of GOD (Ruth, Samuel, David, Elijah)
  5. On Trial for GOD (Elisha, Daniel, Jonah, Nehemiah, Esther)
  6. JESUS – Teacher & Healer (From Matthew and Mark)
  7. JESUS – Lord & Saviour (From Luke and John)
  8. Acts of the HOLY SPIRIT (The Young Church and Paul)

The recordings are freely available in mp3 and video formats for downloading. Many have also been converted into Bloom Books for use in literacy. You can search GRN’s recordings here.

The audio tracks and the picture sets are designed to be used together. However, there are situations when they can be used separately. The audio track should only be used on its own if it has been especially prepared for this purpose, so that it does not refer to the pictures. (e.g. – there is a version of the Good News script designed to be used with or without the pictures. It is designated with an ^ symbol (GN^) on the audio presentation.)

The picture sets can be used with the audio track or by a ‘story-teller/preacher’. They can be used by a ‘teacher’ with a group or an individual. At the most basic level, a user of the materials (evangelist) needs only to know how to operate the playback device and to turn the pictures at the right time. However, it is ideal if the evangelist is also able to interact with the audience by entering into discussion, by asking questions or by giving further explanation or telling more stories. Therefore the evangelist needs to become very familiar with the script and to understand the message of each picture.

The best way to use our audio-visual resources is to play the audio track straight through (as long as people are willing to listen) while holding the pictures up for all to see, turning the pages at the appropriate time (usually indicated by a distinctive sound on the recording).

The evangelist may choose to leave copies of the recording on a playback device and some picture books with the hearers so that they can listen over again.

GRN audio-visual presentations include: “Good News“, “Look, Listen & Live“, and “The Living Christ“. The scripts for these presentations are all stories from the Bible. They are not translations of the Bible, but they aim to simply and appropriately give the message of the Bible. The original scripts have virtually no explanatory content to allow God’s word to speak to the heart of the hearers.
